Book Summary. Nobody is better qualified than Madeleine Albright to warn against the current resurgence of Fascism. Her personal life and her professional careers as US Secretary of State, as a diplomat and scholar prepared her superbly for this task. The book ultimately argues that Fascism has already took over the USA in the form of Progressivism, which is an America answer to Fascism and thoroughly argues the parallels and ideological roots of Progressivism to by: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Listening to Albright narrate her book was like visiting with her over a cup of tea. She described her families fleeing the Nazis and later the Soviets. Her personal story of her encounter with fascism made the book more relevant than just an academic textbook would have been. The book is well written and researched. Fascism: A Warning is her sixth book and is perhaps her most important work to date, as the world seems to face what many fear could be a long period of darkness. Albright is careful to warn against the indiscriminate use of the term "fascism," and she very properly begins this book with a discussion of its proper usage and meaning/5(K).

Fascism: A Warning is a book for our times that is relevant to all times. Written by someone who has not only studied history but helped to shape it, this call to arms teaches us the lessons we must understand and the questions we must answer if we are to save ourselves from repeating the tragic errors of the past. The premise of Albright’s book is that the Fascism of a century ago was not atypical, and that it could return. Photograph by Bill O'Leary / The Washington Post / Getty.
